Al was born in Worthington, Minn., on Nov. 7, 1941. He was the youngest of the five Latuska boys and at 6'1" was the shortest. He grew up in Worthington until he joined the Air Force after high school graduation in 1959. He was assigned to Elmendorf AFB until his honorable discharge in 1964. While in the Air Force, he met his future wife, Julie Ann Westover. They had two children: Allen Mark Latuska and Carrie Ann Maas. He graduated from UAA in 1974, with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in accounting.
He was Administrative Vice President of International Superior Services, a North Slope supply firm. He was active in the community swerving as Little League coach and Packmaster of Cub Scouts. He later joined the Anchorage International Jaycees and took his chapter to the highest state awards. He also received many personal honors both state and nationally.
After retirement, he left Anchorage and lived with his son Allen in Portland, Ore. Later, he moved to Reno, Nev., to be by his brothers. While in Reno, he suffered a stroke and later died of complications of that stroke.
He is survived by his children, Allen Mark (Cheryl Allen) Latuska and Carrie Ann Maas; grandchildren, Randall Latuska, Lacy Mass and Christian Maas; and former wife, Julie Latuska. He always had a ready smile and a way about him that inspired confidence.
