Alta Crete Colberg

Lifelong Alaskan Alta C. Colberg, 85, died on Jan. 5, 2020, at Providence Alaska Medical Center.

A celebration of life will be from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at the Seldovia Village Tribe Conference Center, 328 Main Street in Seldovia, Alaska.

Mrs. Colberg was born on Feb. 24, 1934, in Seattle, Wash., to Alta Crete Phillips and Leslie Grant Rosebush. Seldovia is where she spent the majority of her life, she was a homemaker, a natural helper and was available to assist community members in need. She was a member of the Seldovia Hospital Guild, working and learning from the doctors, she took the x-rays and developed them, helped deliver babies and was the night nurse. She was a member of the Parent Teacher Association; along with other parents she helped make positive changes and was instrumental in working with the parents to ensure a swimming pool was included when the new school was built and opened in 1973. The same year she joined her husband working in the Linwood until they sold their business in October 1982. Mrs. Colberg took great pride in her family and was "mom" and "grandma" to many children over the years. She always opened her home and invited all visitors to the table at mealtime.

She was preceded in death by her parents; the love of her life, John N. Colberg; and sons, Albert "Al" and Leslie "Danny" Peterson. Survivors include daughter and sons-in-law, Elizabeth "Liza" and Michel Biere of Seldovia, Alexis and Frank Nelissen of Anchorage, Arlise "Arkie" Borup and fiance Bob Dismuke of Oakdale, Calif.; son, John P. Colberg and Kyongnan "Han" Han of Seldovia; sister, Anita Snyder of Tacoma, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

Final arrangements were by Kehl's Legacy Funeral Home.
