Anni Herta Knueppel

Anni Herta Knueppel, 87, passed away at her home in Palmer, Alaska, on June 24, 2020, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born in East Prussia, Germany, to Anna and Martin Kalwies on July 4, 1932. She met and married her husband, Ernst, in Bremen, Germany, and came to Alaska to join her parents in 1957.

She lived in Palmer, then moved to Anchorage and spent many years working as a retail clerk. She loved to oil paint, fish, camp, sew, bake and do needlework. She and Ernie moved back to Palmer in 1991. She loved to garden, visit with friends, go to German Club of Anchorage events and attended St. John Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Ernst; daughter, Renate and husband William Foster; her sister and brother-in-law, Gerda and Bob Shower; sister, Erika Nowka; grandchildren, Will Foster (wife Kimberley) and Kristal Kumar (husband Ajay); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held in private with family to keep people safe during COVID-19. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association at act.alz.org.
