Billy "Popeye" Radford

Billy Radford, "Popeye," of Lampe, Mo., son of Andrew and Dolly (Mason) Radford, was born on Nov. 8, 1933, in Princeton, N.C., and departed this life on April 7, 2020, at age 86.

Bill had been a resident of the area for 10 years moving to Lampe from Point Blank, Texas. He was a member of the Lampe Baptist Church in Lampe. He was career military serving in the United States Air Force, enlisting in 1954. At the time of his retirement in 1976, he served as MSGT in the 21st Supply Squadran at Elemendorf AFB in Anchorage, Alaska. He went on to work for Alyeska Pipeline Service Company for 15 years.

Throughout his life, Bill enjoyed growing his own vegetables, camping, hunting, watching UAA/Aces hockey, but most of all, fishing. He enjoyed spending time on the Kenai River fishing with friends and family. Bill secretly loved to sing, saw Christmas through a child's eyes and was the best grandpa.

Bill was a kind, caring, loving person that devoted his life to his family and the people he loved. He enriched everyone whose life he touched. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, he was loved beyond words and he will be missed beyond measure! Bill will be laid to rest at Angelus Memorial Park in Anchorage.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; two stepsons, Richard Byrd and Anthony Byrd; five brothers, Earl Radford, John Quincy "J.Q." Radford, Frank Radford, Andrew Radford and Ben Wadsworth; and one sister, Carol Munden.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary Radford of Lampe; three stepsons, Vernon Byrd and wife Mary Ann of Fayetteville, N.C., Steve Byrd and wife Nancy of Fayetteville and Timothy Byrd and wife Sandra of Belfast, Maine; one daughter, Alice Federenko and husband Garvin (Kailyn, Whitney) of Anchorage; and one stepdaughter, Sherry Knosky of Anchorage; two sisters, Judy Bell of North Carolina and Virginia Shelton of Goodman, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

Graveside Services will be held at Angelus Memorial Park in Anchorage on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2020, at 1 p.m.
