Carla Ann Casler

Sep 30, 1959 -

Oct 5, 2020

Carla Ann Casler was born on Sept. 30, 1959. She moved with her family to Anchorage, Alaska, in 1963. In 1978, she joined the Alaska Air National Guard where she went on to become the Chief of Supply. In 1986, she gave birth to her son Jordan and 4 years later married Nathan Casler, merging her family with his. During her time in Alaska, she became an avid bodybuilder and would go on to befriend both local amateurs and professionals who shared this passion. She retired from the Alaska Air National Guard after 30 years of service, having attained the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. In 2006, she moved to Silver City, N.M.

In 2013, she was diagnosed with colon cancer and courageously fought it for the next 7 years. During those 7 years, she strived to be an advocate for others afflicted with cancer and she cultivated a deep faith in The Lord and friendships with others who shared that faith.

"I was a sinner who was profoundly touched by God through my battle with cancer. Most of my adulthood I was full of arrogance and pride because my greatest strengths became my greatest weakness. I failed to acknowledge all that was good in me came from the Lord. All talents, gifts, and personality were designed by Him and given to me to be used for His purpose and glory. God changed me. The only thing that I desperately desired while alive was to focus on my spirit not my accomplishments: not money, status, title, body or physical strength. He gave me a strong body, but He also gave me a stronger spirit. It took me many years to understand and receive the love of God. When I (finally) placed my trust in the Lord He carried me through life with His strength, faith and peace. A peace that no human can grasp until they have a relationship with Christ Jesus. I thank Him will all my heart for hand selecting the people He placed in my life. I love you, and I hope that I showed you unconditional love while I was alive. There are no coincidences in life. There is a Divine plan for each of us. It is my hope and prayer that you invite God in your life and relationships. There is nothing too small or too big for Him. God Bless You." - Carla Ann Casler

She succumbed on Oct. 5, 2020, five days after her 61st birthday. She is survived by Nathan Casler, her husband of 30 years; their three children, Andrew Casler, Alison Cherry and Jordan Snarski; as well as their spouses, Steven Cherry and Jennie Snarski; and by their four grandchildren, Cora and Henry Cherry and Faith and Aurora Snarski.
