Carroll Arneson

Today we lost a long time Alaska resident, Carroll (Shannon) Arneson, 89. Carroll passed at Providence Hospital with family by her side. At the time of her death, she was residing at the Anchorage Veterans and Pioneer Home.

Carroll was born in Pedro, Ohio. She came to Alaska in the early '50s with her husband and children and worked a variety of odd jobs from switchboard phone operator, waitress at the old Hoffbrau, 19 years at Anchorage Cold Storage - until they went non-union - to starting up her own pilot car service hauling pipe for the Alaska pipeline up to the haul road before retiring.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Glen Whitson of Yacolt, Wash.; her daughter and son-in-law, Pamala and Larry LaFramboise of Wasilla, Alaska; her son-in-law, Al Day of Palmer, Alaska; her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Daryl Spaeth of Anchorage, Alaska; her son, Billy Bob Shannon of Idaho Falls, Idaho; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

Carroll was preceded in death by four husbands; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make a donation to the Anchorage Veterans and Pioneer home in Carroll's name. Carroll was loved by family and friends and will be dearly missed.
