Charles "Russ" Miller

Charles Russell "Russ" Miller Jr., 49, passed away on Aug. 23, 2020, in Anchorage, Alaska, surrounded by family. Russ was born on Oct. 6, 1970, to Charles and Kathryn Miller at Westover Air Force Base, Mass. Russ was very passionate with everything he did. He worked for Ted Stevens International Airport as well as Alaska Regional Hospital. On July 4, 2014, in Georgia, Russ married Renea. Russ served in the Air National Guard for 12 years.

Russ is survived by his wife, Renea Miller; parents, Charles and Kathryn Miller; sister, Kathryn (Robert) Lynch; nieces, Kirsten (Drew) Wansing and Renea (Jeremy) Mercado; great-nephews, Heiden Mercado and Michael Wansing; mother-in-law, Ann Akins; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2020, at Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E Street, from 2-4 p.m. The Celebration of Life will be on Friday, Aug. 28, 2020, at Riverside Community Church, 10301 East Eagle River Loop Road in Eagle River, Alaska, at 9:30 a.m., with Pastor Ed Gardner officiating. Following is the burial at Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery, 535 East 9th Avenue, at 11 a.m. The family asked for all who join the service and burial to wear Hawaiian shirts just like Russ did. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kiwanis Club of Anchorage, kiwanisanchorage.org or the NRA.
