Dana passed away with family at her side at Providence Hospital from battling cancer the last six years on Feb. 12, 2020. She was 61 years old and lived a very active and meaningful life in Anchorage, Alaska.

Born at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas, to Charles and Nellie Goodson; she was the middle of three girls. The family moved from Florida to Anchorage, Alaska, in 1970, where Dana graduated from A. J. Dimond High School in 1976.

Dana became a beautician and worked for JC Penney's Anchorage salon for 11 years and JC Penney's Virginia Beach salon for two years. She worked eight years at JP Stevens in Lincolnton, N.C., and five years with Timken Company in Lincolnton, N.C. Since 2005, Dana has been employed with Staples in Anchorage as the outbound supervisor.

She loved to travel and enjoyed outdoor activities that included camping, fishing, hiking, mining and gold panning. Dana had many friends throughout the years and always kept them and her family laughing from her antics. She was a devoted and loved daughter, sister and friend.

Dana was preceded in death by her father, Charles Goodson; paternal grandparents, Garman and Nannie Goodson; and maternal grandparents, George and Connie Abernathy. Survivors include her mother, Nellie Goodson in Anchorage; sisters, Debbie Miller (Dale) in Anchorage and Charlene Cox (Jerret) in Ragland, Ala.; nephews, Kyle Miller (Steffanie) and Christopher Miller both in Anchorage and Jaxon, Jaiden, and Jagger Cox in Ragland; nieces, Haley Carey in Pell City, Ala., and Madison Carey in Eden, Md.; and great-nephews and niece Crimzine, Alexander, Hayden, Jaxson, and Quintyn Miller in Anchorage, Alaska.

At Dana's request, a memorial service will not be held. At a later date, her family will be spreading her ashes in areas throughout Alaska that she enjoyed. Donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
