Daniel Frederick Greer

Daniel Frederick Greer, 83, died on Oct. 2, 2020, at his home in Anchorage, Alaska, due to pancreatic cancer.

There will be a viewing at noon with Funeral Service following at 1 p.m., at Legacy Funeral Homes Heritage Chapel at Angelus, 440 E. Klatt Road, on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020; Pastor Michael Williams will officiate.

Daniel was born on Feb. 18, 1937, in Port Arthur, Texas, and earned his master's degree in education. He came to Alaska in 1968, first residing in Sterling, then lived in Seward from 1969 to 1991, then to Eagle River from 1991 until 2004, then Ketchikan until 2011, when he came to Anchorage. He worked for the Kenai Peninsula School District in Sterling and Seward prior to retiring in 1990.

He was involved in the United Pentecostal Church and Christ Temple Apostolic Church in addition to CASA, Big Brothers, Vista Corps, Bible Studies, Sunday school teaching and pastoring. He had an interest in helping people earn their GED and was a perpetual student with many hours above his Masters. He believed in divine healing but also stated that he had a good long life and was blessed by God.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hatton and Anel Greer; and nine brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife, Rita Susan Greer; children, Douglas Greer (Audrey), Della Cobb (Kerry), Hatton Greer and Twyla Greer; grandchildren, David Greer, Karma Arslanian, Travis Cobb, Jessica Greer and Dexter Greer; great-grandchildren, Isabel Arslanian and Escher Arslanian; and sisters, Minnie Weaver and Irene Weaver.
