David Valentine Cosgrave

David died peacefully surrounded by his family at home in Dublin, Ireland.

It was a surprise to us all when we heard David was not well. David had gone back to Ireland to help his Mum and Dad, now in their 80s. David said, "It is an honor to look after Mum and Dad." That was our David, always putting others before himself.

David settled in Alaska in 1999 to help his family. He opened up his Chinese medicine practice and embraced life. He loved God, family, friends, sports and helping people restore their health through his Chinese medicine practice.

David had attended St. John's Orthodox Church in Eagle River and The Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Anchorage, Alaska. Faith in God and the teaching of the Church were his driving force. For all those he knew he delighted in their success and prayed for them through their struggles.

David loved to ride his Harley to the golf course and play the game barefoot. He said he was "getting grounded." He delighted in spending time with his family and friends. He would get up at 3 a.m. sometimes to watch the soccer and rugby matches with his friend Dave. He hoped to pass the tradition of making the Irish Christmas cake and pudding to his nieces and nephews. He would proudly arrive every Christmas with the traditional cake and pudding in hand. David was a treasure to us all. He is sadly missed.

David is survived by his parents, Tony and Benny of Ireland; brothers, Jerry Cosgrave and family Maryann, Hugh, Kevin, Sarah, John of Anchorage, Francis Cosgrave and family Nida, Norlisa, Anthony and Junior of Philippines, Edward Cosgrave and family Lyn, Michael, Angelica, Paul of Valdez, Val Cosgrave of Ireland, Neil Cosgrave and family Tracey, Niamh, Aoife of Ireland; sisters, Lisa Cosgrave of Chicago and Susan Nakada and family Tok, Sean, Patrick, Seamus, Roisin, Tadhg, Maire, Fintan, Aine, Aodhan of Anchorage; and grandniece, Alayna Chang of Anchorage.

Please keep him in your prayers. May God rest his soul.
