Wife, mother and proud grandmother Debbie Ann DeMott, age 64, passed away unexpectedly at home. She was the wife of James Robert DeMott; as high school sweethearts, they shared 48 lovely years together.
An Athabaskan Native born in Fairbanks, Alaska, she was the daughter of Loretta "Luke" McInturff from Koyukuk. She graduated from West High School and had worked retail in a variety of stores. Debbie belonged to the CIRI Corporation.
She enjoyed traveling – to Hawaii especially - local events, antique shopping, La Mex, the Alaska State Fair, Native gatherings and spending time with family. She was a very kind, patient and a pleasant person to be around. She had an agreeable nature with a unique sense of humor, adorable catchphrases, a giggling laugh and smiling eyes. We shared countless wonderful memories with her. She will be missed beyond measure.
Debbie is preceded in death by Brenda McInturff; and survived by husband, James DeMott; daughter, Naomi (Will) Stapp; granddaughter, Amelia Stapp; sisters, Becky (Sevie) Wagenius, Dawn McInturff, Lorinda Richards, Darlene McInturff and Dorothy (Rodney) Timario; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Memorial Potluck will be held at the Nuka Learning and Wellness Center, please call 907-717-5136 for date and time. Prayers for the family are very much appreciated.
