Diane Mathisen

Diane Elizabeth Mathisen, age 68, passed away at Providence Alaska on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2020, after a battle with cancer.

Diane was born on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 1951, in Astoria, Ore., to Maurice and Beverly Christopherson and later earned her MBA from Washington State University. She came to Alaska in 1978, working in Barrow for the North Slope Borough until October 1984, when she moved to Anchorage. Diane went to work for Rural Cap in 1987 and retired in 1998.

She was a member of the League of Women Voters and helped with Pre-K programs for infants and children as well as Beans Cafe. Diane enjoyed shopping markets, fishing and spending time with her husband, Carl. Her family and friends all agree that Diane was a very special person and to know her was to love her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Beverly.

Diane is survived by her loving husband, Carl; daughters, Linda Mathisen of Great Falls, Mont., Karen Villegas (Conrad) of Arizona, and Suzan Congleton (Gary) of Anchorage; daughter-in-law, Rose Fusdick of Nome, Alaska; sisters, Karina Christopherson of Olympia, Wash., Angela Christopherson of Olympia and Susan Emory (Bob) of Grants Pass, Ore.; and brother, Jason Christopherson (Lynette Fox) of Olympia.

A Celebration of Diane's Life will be held at 10 a.m., on Thursday, March 12, 2020, at the Anchorage Funeral Home, 1800 Dare Avenue in Anchorage.
