Dolores McCullough

Nov 5, 1930 -

Aug 2, 2020

Dolores McCullough, age 89, passed away peacefully on Aug. 2, 2020. She was born on Nov. 5, 1930, born again in 1946, and borne on angel's wings 2020.

Dolores grew up in Washington state and traveled to Alaska in the 1950s. She was a stewardess for a small airline commuting between Seattle and Anchorage. She met and married George McCullough in 1951. They had two children: Lucy and Pete. They initially settled in Anchorage and became part of the Homesteaders community – friends they kept life long.

They then moved to Talkeetna, Alaska, and made it their home. Dolores and George were active in the Talkeetna community, such as helping start the Talkeetna Christian Center, providing housing, culinary lessons and Bible studies.

She was a woman of faith, loved her family and friends, and was always a lady, even through her adventures in the wilderness with George. She had poise, grace, creativity and a sense of humor.

She is survived by her children, Lucy (Travis) St. John and Pete (Gina) McCullough; grandchildren, Allen (Julie), Corey (Anna), Crispin (Cari), Isaac (Jeni), James, Jessica (Gary), Joah (Ingrid), Rosie, Sam (Ali) and Sara (Eric); great-grandchildren, Aiden, Alexis, Bradley, Brylin, Corban, Derek, Ethan, Elizabeth, Ezra, Gabrea, Joshua, Kirill, Levi, Lucien, Rikai, Savaana, Spencer and Tavier; great-great-grandchild, Harvey; and her sister Donna Perrigoue; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, George; parents, Rudolph and Jessie; and grandson, Damon.

Services will be at Church on the Rock Talkeetna, Mile 99 Parks Hwy on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2020, at 2 p.m.
