Apr 2, 2020

Donald "Don" Grant Fall was born on April 2, 1933, in Toledo, Ohio, and died on his birthday, April 2, 2020, on his 87th birthday. He follows his wife, Annie, of 58 years to heaven and they are again together. Don graduated from Woodward High School 1951 and then joined the Navy in 1951 and spent time on the Mediterranean Sea during the Korean War as a radioman; he was proud of his time served. Shortly after being discharged from the Navy he decided to take a chance and travel to Alaska with his brother, Ray. They both made a living on fishing boats in Sitka, Alaska, in the mid-1950s. Sitka is where Don met his wife Annie, they were married in Sitka and shortly after made the move to Anchorage.

In the early 1960s Don and Ann began their family in a small home in Spenard. They purchased a plot of land up on the hillside and with the help of family built a lovely home there. During this time Don began his work as an electrical lineman, including working long hours after the Good Friday earthquake in 1964. By the mid-1970s he would own his own electrical construction business. Don loved his work and finished his career out in Shemya and at the oil terminal in Valdez.

Don had many hobbies and interests. In the 1970s, he got his pilot license and owned a Cessna; later after retirement he bought a sailboat and enjoyed day trips out of Seward. He also enjoyed playing golf, fishing and activities with the Shriners and the Masonic Lodge in Anchorage. He and Annie were always accompanied by the dogs that they loved, making many road trips with the dog sitting between the both of them. Another of Don's true passions was woodworking and he was a member of the ACWA and AWA clubs in Anchorage. He often had woodworking workshops in his shop and completed many projects for their church.

Don is survived by his two children: Sharon (Ky) and Chris (Denise). He is also survived by his four grandchildren: Grant (Rachel), Heather, Ashley and Russel. He has one great-grandchild, Miles.

The family appreciates the care by Catalina Springs Memory Care in Tucson and the support of their church family at Christ Church Episcopal. A memorial service will be scheduled this summer.
