Former longtime Eagle River, Alaska, resident Dorothy "Dot" Mae Lindfors passed away at her home in Shady Cove, Ore., on July 21, 2020. She was 88 years old.
Born Dorothy Painter on Oct. 24, 1931, in Vandergrift, Pa., she was the daughter of Milo and Bertha Painter and grew up in Pennsylvania, where she eventually met her husband, Jean Paul "JP" Lindfors. After only a short time together, they were wed on Aug. 3, 1951, in Brick Church, Pa.
She moved to Alaska in 1962, with her husband Jean and children Dave, Jim, Helen, John and Gene, first living in Fairbanks before settling in Eagle River in 1970.
Dot was a devoted bowler who bowled in many leagues, as well as an avid bingo player and a proud member of the Moose Lodge in Shady Cove. Never was a foul word spoken in mixed company, she had a deep respect for her Creator. She fiercely loved her family, her friends and her cats, Charlie and Bobby. Everywhere she went, she was proud to show off all of her family photos, her various cat items and jewelry and other items made for her by her friends.
Dot is survived by her husband of 69 years, Jean; her children, Dave, Helen, Jim and Gene; her 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Bud; her sisters, Jean and Ruth; her son, John; and her granddaughter, Sabrina.
Dot will be deeply missed by all those who knew her.
