Elizabeth Marie Rettke, 76, passed away on July 11, 2020, at home in Eagle River, Alaska, after a courageous battle with cancer. Elizabeth was born on Nov. 19, 1943, in San Jose, Calif., to the late Herman and Helen Rice.
Elizabeth Rettke was born and raised in San Jose until 1977, when she began her journey to Alaska and became a resident. She worked at IBM, on an assembly line as well as a housewife and mother. Elizabeth was active in the community: she was involved with FCE Homemaker's of Anchorage and State President chair. She enjoyed spending her time doing floristry, sewing, painting, fishing and general crafting of all kinds. Elizabeth started her life in Campbell, Calif., and ended in Eagle River, Alaska. Every year gave something new to her life and make looking towards the next with pleasure.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Stephan Rettke; children, Polly (Rettke) Schwarz, son-in-law Philip Schwarz and grandchildren, Nicholas and Mallary Schwarz, and Casey Rettke, daughter-in-law Karyne Rettke and grandchildren, Hunter and Maggie Rettke.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at 11 a.m., at Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E Street in Anchorage, Alaska, followed by a simple service at 12:30 p.m. The cemetery service will be at 2 p,m, at Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery, 535 E 9th Avenue in Anchorage.
