Elizabeth Anne Thurston formerly Englund passed peacefully at home surrounded by her daughter and two granddaughters on Aug. 6, 2020.

She was where she was most happy.

Elizabeth grew up in Portland, Ore., and moved to Alaska in 1982. Elizabeth loved life, but mostly she loved her family. Her kindness, compassion and love for her family and for animals and plants will forever be missed.

She is survived by her two children, Jami Gartner and Chris Newton; her son-in-law, Michael Gartner; her partner of 24 years, Wayne Englund; her three granddaughters, Shyla Gartner, Ahna Gartner and Ayla Mason; and her only grandson, Tristen Gartner. She is preceded in death by her father, Norman Thurston.
