Jul 31, 2020
Eunice D. Silberer went to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness on July 31, 2020 ,at the age of 82. She spent most of her life in Anchorage, Alaska, but was a snowbird spending her winters in Arizona. She was born in North Dakota and moved to Alaska with her parents, Vernon and Edith Johnson, in 1957. Eunice was a big part of the family car dealership, Universal Motors, which was the first Toyota dealership in Alaska. After her father passed away, she and her late husband, Richard "Dick" Silberer took it over and added BMW and Mercedes to the dealership. Eunice and Dick traveled the world with their Toyota 20 Group. They were both very involved in the community of Anchorage. She was a smart businesswoman, an astute property manager, an avid golfer and graceful skier. She loved Alaska, her favorite restaurants and her home in Turnagain. Even though she was a serious person, she had a playful side and was never known to pass up a good water fight.
Eunice is survived by her dear sister, Mavis Wickstrom; numerous nephews, nieces, family members and friends. At her request, there will be no public service. The family will honor the wishes of Eunice and her late husband Dick to have their ashes combined and scattered over Denali sometime next summer.
Eunice and Dick were enthusiastic supporters of the Anchorage Museum for many years.
Contributions in memory of Eunice will be greatly appreciated and may be sent to Anchorage Museum Association, 625 C Street, Anchorage, AK 99501; or to the small family cemetery in North Dakota, Vasa Cemetery, c/o Immanuel Lutheran Church, 4328 46th St NE, Esmond, ND 58332 .
