Faizon Quincey Rowen
Aug 22, 2003 -
June 8, 2020
Faizon Quincey Rowen, age 16, was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. He was the son of parents, Michael A. Rowen, Sr. (deceased) and Mary Anne Rowen. He was a high school senior attending Benny Benson High School and was most recently employed at Carrs-Safeway. He had aspirations of living in California after graduating from high school to attend business school. He was always finding creative ways of making money. He had a relationship with God and was well-connected with several churches in the community.
As a young boy, Faizon played hard and thrived on comradery. Faizon developed a positive relationship with the Arctic Gymnastics and Okamoto's School of Karate under Sensei Okamota, where he achieved his first-degree black belt. He also completed Alaska Crossing wilderness camp in Ketchikan, Alaska, which he considered a great accomplishment.
Faizon was a curious, artful and charismatic youth with an exceptional ability to capture the hearts of those around him. He was sensitive and very quirky. He was fiercely loyal and particularly willful. He prided himself on his appearance and effervescent charm. He had an expanding large circle of friends who cared about him, as much as he intensely cared about them.
He loved summer, longboarding, toying with Sheila - his Dodge Dakota -chillin' with his friends at Point Worozoff and watching the sun set. He enjoyed spending time with friends in his mancave and going to Friday night car meets. He appreciated beautiful things and pleasant scents. He played video games with kids online, always making new friends. He wrote rap and soul songs, and liked to draw. He explored photography using his late father's camera. He taught himself the ukulele and was continually singing. He had a beautiful voice and was always on perfect pitch. He was a unique soul, with natural rhythm and a special style. A person would have to know him to really understand that.
According to his mother: "There was never a dull moment with Faizon in my world. I always referred to him as 'spirited.' Life was almost never easy, but it was always interesting and entertaining; and I earnestly felt it was a privilege to be his Mom. I told him that out of all the people in the world, I got to have a Faizon!"
Faizon's passing was sudden and utterly grievous, but he would want us to take care of one another and whole-heartedly celebrate each moment on this earth. He'd want us to simply be happy. Faizon knew Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and is now with Him and his beloved father, Michael, who he missed terribly. I know we will see our adored Faizon once again in Heaven. He is survived by his mother, Mary Anne Rowen; sisters, Leanna Rowen, Brittney McClusky, Klarisza Smith and Malerie Shockley; brothers, Jayvon Perry and Bryan Ivie; and birth parents, Lori Perry and Joseph Wingate Jr.
A memorial service to commemorate his life will be held at the Anchorage Baptist Temple on June 19, 2020, at 7 p.m. Flowers are welcome and may be brought to the service, but please do not send donations. For the safety of everyone who attends the service, please observe prudent COVID-19 precautions. To view full obituary go to www.legacyalaska.com.
