Fred V. Angleton

Nov 4, 2021

Fred V. Angleton died on Nov. 4, 2021, at the age of 87, surrounded by those who adored him. Fred enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1951. He served as a machinist mate on the USS Hamner during the Korean conflict. In 1953, Fred married his greatest love, Vivien, who was up for an adventure. He left the Navy after four years and started a career in the oil industry. Fred and his family were transferred to multiple states, finally being transferred to Alaska. When he was asked to move back to the Lower 48, Fred vowed to keep his family in Alaska. Fred found an opportunity to connect his love of Alaska and his love of service by becoming an Alaska State Trooper in 1971. He was stationed in Anchorage, Talkeetna and Nome, eventually transferring to Soldotna, where he retired with the rank of First Sargent in 1987.

Throughout his life, Fred was a devoted member of the Masonic and Shrine fraternities serving as Grand Master of Alaska and Potentate of Alaska. He was particularly devoted to the Shriners Children's Hospital mission and served on the board of the hospital in Portland, Ore. He will be greatly missed by his friends, family and community.

He is survived by his children: Deborah, Fred II "Rusty" (Janey) and Thomas (Celeste). He has three living grandchildren, Jonus, Rachel and Bronson; and 10 greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved Vivien; grandson, Jacoby Angleton; and two great-granddaughters. Services will be at the Kenai Shrine Club, 47445 W Poppy Lane in Soldotna, on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, at 2 p.m. There will be a private Masonic tribute at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the family transportation fund of the Al Aska Shrine Temple 1930 E. Northern Lights, Anchorage, AK 99508.
