June 16, 2020
Gaylene Marie Thiele, 64, passed away peacefully in her home on June 16, 2020.
Gaylene was born on Nov. 11, 1955, in Seattle, Wash., the second youngest of six children and the only daughter of Raymond and Mary Daley.
After growing up seeing much of the Midwest as part of the Boeing family and then as a military wife, she fell in love with Alaska and chose to call it her permanent home. The natural beauty of the land and independent spirit of its people spoke to her, and having the moose and bear come through her home in Chugiak was perfect.
A quiet woman until she got to know you, Gaylene had a kind, genuine and loving heart and was always there for her three children. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she loved spending time with them. Her perfect day would be spent playing with the grandkids, watching them run around and providing amazing hugs whenever needed.
Gaylene also enjoyed Facebook, and loved to put a smile on people's faces, sharing recipes and jokes whenever she could. She especially liked to share nature photos when she came across a picture of someone's favorite animal or a particularly beautiful landscape.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Mary Daley; and brothers, Gary, Dennis and Terry Daley. She is survived by the love of her life, Ronald Thiele II; children, Denise Buchanan, Ronald Thiele III and Raymond Thiele; brothers, Michael and Daniel Daley; as well as several grandchildren.
A service will be held at Evergreen Memorial Chapel on June 29, 2020, at 2 p.m., with her burial at the Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery immediately after. All are welcome to attend.
