Gene Karl Smallwood Jr., 44, passed away in Anchorage, Alaska, on Oct. 22, 2020. Gene was born on July 10, 1976, in Sitka, Alaska, to Darlene B. Smallwood. Gene was an all the way around kindhearted person you could meet. He enjoyed all things outdoors, but his favorite was hiking, camping and fishing. Gene would spend his time reading, playing basketball, playing chess and cribbage. Gene had a kind heart, was loved and cared for by all that knew him, Gene will be missed. Gene Karl Smallwood Jr. was Tlingit, and his Tlingit name was Bear.

Gene is survived by his brother, Raymond; sister, Annie; niece, Lucy; nephews, Willie and Chance; and children, Gene Karl Smallwood III, Alton and Anna. Gene is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Gene is preceded in death with brother, Joshua Morris; great-grandma, Ellen Harris; aunt, Denise Smallwood; and uncle, Ed Smallwood.
