Geoffrey Lyn Brewington, 70, passed away in Anchorage, Alaska, on Oct. 20, 2020. He was the oldest of four children born to parents Hubert and Peggy Brewington in San Francisco, Calif., on March 23, 1950. He and his family moved from the Bay Area to Alaska a few years later, in 1959.
Geoffrey joined the Air Force when he was 18 years old, and served for 5 years, during which he was stationed in Oklahoma at SAC headquarters, where he became a computer programmer. He also did military contract work as a computer programmer in Florida, California, and Alaska. When he moved back to Alaska permanently in 1991, he continued contract work and eventually received his master's degree in electrical engineering. He took over the family business, Custom Designed Displays Inc. in 2001. He was a member of the American Legion and was an honorary member of the Congressional Medal of Honor Society.
Since he was a young boy you could always find Geoffrey with a fishing pole in hand out on the Kenai River as much as he could find time. His most recent interests found him connecting with people all across the world by use of HAM radio.
Geoffrey is survived by his sister, Jennifer Taylor; brother, Ross Brewington; nieces and spouses, Kelly Taylor-Lee (Daniel Lee) and Kristen Wood (Seth Wood); and his great niece and nephews, whom he loved as his own grandchildren, Gabrielle Lee, Reyce Lee and Leo Wood. Geoffrey was preceded in death by his brother, Jon E. Brewington; father, Hubert J. Brewington; and mother, Peggy F. Brewington.
He will rest alongside his brother, father and mother at the Anchorage Memorial Cemetery.
