James Arthur George, 90, passed away at home from natural causes on May 5, 2020. James was born on Sept. 29, 1929, in Amarillo, Texas, to the late Ochia Steele and Ernest George. He lived in Del Paso Heights, Calif., where he graduated from Grant Union High School, then enlisted into the Army in November 1946. In the Army, James was a military officer and was a well-dressed Army Veteran with a World War II Victory Medal and Army Occupational Medal.

In the late 1950s, James made his journey to Alaska, where he became a lifelong resident of Anchorage. James fell in love with Alaska. James co-owned Alaska Propeller Specialist at Lake Hood and worked at Southcentral Air until he retired in 1992. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. His life was filled with adventure, he enjoyed many fishing trips in Willow to caribou hunting in Paxton. James last hunt was shortly after his 90th birthday. He loved to dance and watch westerns.
