Jean Jilwan passed away peacefully on Sept. 3, 2020, at his home in Anchorage, Alaska.
Jean was born on May 5, 1953, to Youssef and Jamileh Jilwan in Bsharri, Lebaanon. Bsharri is the birthplace of the famous philosopher and sculptor Kahlil Gibran, he is the best known as the author of the Prophet. He moved to Anchorage in 1977 and never left. He was well known in Anchorage as the flower man. He was well loved by all that met him. He brought lots of smiles and joy with his flowers, his charisma and character.
Jean is preceded in death by his mother, Jamileh; and father, Youssef Jilwan. He is survived by his sister, Souhayla Daher; nephew, Charles Daher; and his family in Lebanon; by his sister, Houda and her husband George BouGhosn; nephews, Assaad and Ziad; and nieces, Mireille and Jihane; his family in California; brother, Assia and his wife Daad and nephew Matthew in Anchorage; by his relatives of the Michael, Estabrook and Hudspeth families of Anchorage; and by other relatives in Lebanon and worldwide.
A private family mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe. The family invites all to to watch his service, via Facebook page of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Anchorage, on Friday, Sept. 11, 2020, at 3 p.m.
