Jeffery Sisbach

Jan 2, 1963 -

June 4, 2020

Jeffery "Jeff" J. Sisbach passed away peacefully at his home in Peters Creek, on June 4, 2020, with his faithful canine companion, Abby, at his feet.

Jeff was born on Jan. 2, 1963, in Viroqua, Wis., to James "Jim" and Ardith (Bolstad) Sisbach. He was baptized at Immanual Lutheran Church. His first 6 years were spent in Viroqua, where he attended kindergarten. In August 1969 the family drove to Alaska, where Jeff lived and called home. He was confirmed at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Chugiak. He attended Chugiak Elementary and High School, graduating in 1981. The family became lifelong friends with neighbors on Needles Lane. Jeff loved to hunt and fish with his parents, as well as hundreds of memorable camping trips. He worked after school at Birchwood Isaac Walton trap range, learning to shoot trap. The summer after graduation, Jeff and his friend Dave Hankins traveled around the western U.S. attending shooting tournaments in which Jeff participated and won traveling money.

As an adult, Jeff became an excellent welder, working in steel construction in Alaska and Washington. He worked several years for various oil companies welding on Alaska's North Slope. His specialty was working with aluminum, especially building fishing boats for Jeff Johnson.

Jeff's biggest pride was the remote cabin he built beside a small lake. He loved living remotely and always referred to it as God's Country. He spent summers and fall seasons fishing as well as hunting moose and bear. Jeff loved smoking salmon, always keeping his freezer full.

Jeff is survived by his beloved Abby; his mother, Ardith Sisbach of Roundup, Mont.; godmother and aunt, Eileen Getter of Viroqua; uncle, Larry Bolstad of New Lisbon, Wis.; best friends, Dave Hankins and Frank Blavka, both of Seattle; and several cousins.

Jeff was preceded in death by his father, James Sisbach (2008); his godfather and uncle, Ray Getter (February 2020); his fiancee and longtime mate and companion, Maggie (March 2020); and grandparents, Harold and Ruby Sisbach and Erik and Fern Bolstad.

Jeff will be remembered and missed by anyone who ever met him.

A memorial will be held at a later date for Jeff and Maggie.
