Jessica "Jessi" Katherine Galyan

Jessi passed away from a severe asthma attack at her home on April 17, 2020, at the age of 44, with her sister and nephew at her side.

Jessi was born on Oct. 8, 1975, in Oxnard, Calif., to Rex and Linda Galyan, the oldest of their three children. She was raised in Anchorage, Alaska, graduating from West Anchorage High School in 1993.

She had many occupations over the years: college student, secretary, human resources, floor manager, Go-Kart specialist, cashier, plus many others.

Jessi was an avid reader; she could remember every detail from a book she read 20 years ago, and she read everything. She also enjoyed music, camping and being with her family, blood or adopted. She never met a stranger; many of the friends she met along her way are still part of the family, though at times they lost touch, they knew she loved them.

She is preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents. She is survived by her parents, Rex and Linda Galyan; sister, Sara Galyan; brother, Joshua Galyan; and nephew Anthony Galyan, all of Anchorage; along with all the other mothers, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews she had collected over the years.

Per her wishes, she has been cremated and there will be no service.
