Josephine "Fina" Mills

Jun 7, 1927 -

Aug 18, 2020

Fina Mills passed away peacefully on Aug. 18, 2020, at the young age of 93, at home in Jurupa Valley, Calif., surrounded by her family, and on her own terms! Fina was born in East L.A., as she would always state! Fina is survived by her four children, Danny Zubia partner Monica Lopez of Las Vegas, Nev., Raul (Chico) Zubia wife Linda (Pinky) of Jurupa Valley, Ercie Olson husband Ole of Wasilla, Alaska, and Tony Zubia wife Terri of Riverside, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Mom was a resident of Anchorage, Alaska, from 1970 until 2013, when she moved back to Jurupa Valley to spend her glorious remaining years with her familia. Fina also outlived three husbands: Daniel Zubia Sr., Sid Bigelow and the one and only Freddie Mills. Fina owned a hairstyle salon in downtown Anchorage in the early 70s, and told us all of many of the things that went on in downtown Anchorage during the pipeline days! One was of her being robbed at gunpoint and of how calm she was until he left, with no money! Fina was know to tell a salty joke or two, also! Fina was a life member of the VFW, American Legion and Moose Lodges. She was an Alaska Champion horseshoe pitcher, until she cut her thumb off while woodworking, she loved bowling, woodworking, her feline friends and a Miller Lite or two! She leaves many friends, whom considered her family, and relatives in Alaska and California. As her children stated: it's a hard pill to swallow, knowing mom's gone to Heaven! Fina will be missed but never forgotten, as she would always end her words with you, God Bless You.

A celebration of Life will be held at her home in Jurupa Valley on Saturday, Sept. 12. 2020. Condolences may be sent to 3466 Novak Street, Jurupa Valley, CA 92509.
