Julie Fowler

Feb 2, 1971 -

Jan 4, 2020

On Jan. 4, 2020, Julie Marie Fowler of Homer, Alaska, earned her wings and went dancing with the angels. She was 48 years old. She was born on Feb. 2, 1971, in Bakersfield, Calif.

Julie was inspired by nature, her Native American culture and her children.

She was known by her friends and community by many different nicknames, but, her favorite name of all was Mom. She was a proud mother of three children, and there was never a day she didn't speak of them.

Julie was a unique individual and a free spirit in her own rite. She was tough, feisty and outspoken, she was the definition of Independent, always did things her way and rarely accepted "help" from anyone. She enjoyed long walks along the beach to collect rocks and trinkets, drawing, an ice-cold beer after a long day and simply enjoying the beauty of nature.

Julie embodied the Yokuts prayer: "My words are tied in one with the great mountains, with the great rocks, with the great trees, in one with my body and heart. All of you see me, one with this world."

Julie is survived by her former husband and lifelong friend, James Fowler of Ash Flat, Ark.; daughter, Jamie Burnett and husband Lucas of Pleasant Plains, Ark.; sons, Michael Fowler and Ashly Champlin of Fayetteville, Ark., and Marc Boiley of Homer; grandchildren, Annabelle and Octavia Fowler; and loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and a host of long-time friends.

Julie is preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Wanda Fowler; and brother-in-law, Billy Fowler of Ash Flat.

While Julie's family grieves her loss, they are choosing to remember her in a way that honors her spirit.

A private memorial service will be held at her family's farm in Ash Flat, Ark. Please visit www.alaskanfuneral.com to leave online condolences.
