Jun Fernando Sudaria, 85, passed away peacefully at Providence Hospital on May 19, 2020.
He was born on April 6, 1935, in Tarlac, Philippines. He immigrated to Colorado in 1982 at the age of 47. He came to Alaska in 1984 to work at a fishing cannery in Kodiak for a year and at Sheraton Anchorage Hotel until his retirement in 1996. He then lived in Colorado, California, and the Philippines before coming back to Alaska in 2013.
Jun enjoyed watching sports programs, especially boxing and basketball. He loved making people laugh with his colorful storytelling. He was also a big fan of country music.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Sudaria; his seven children, Nicanor Sudaria, Nilda Labitad, Noel Sudaria, Norman Sudaria, Nenita Ramil, Nancy Balanon and Nelson Sudaria; their respective spouses and/or partners; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2020, from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m., at Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E Street in Anchorage.
