Karen L. George died at her sister's home in Grand Island, Neb., of congestive heart failure on July 8, 2024.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, July 12, 2024, at the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
Karen was born on Sept. 29, 1946, in Lindsay, Calif., 6 minutes before her twin sister Carol. She grew up in California and Alaska. She went to Alaska in 1960, eventually married and spent the rest of her life there. She worked in retail and then in medical billing.
She moved to Nebraska in fall 2023 to be closer to her sister, Carol. She accepted her illness with grace and was a pleasure to care of.
Karen is survived by her son, Chris George; and grandson, Asher George, both of Anchorage, Alaska; twin sister, Carol Poulsen of Grand Island; sister, Ruth (Bill) Holley of Tennessee; brother, John Sheehan of New York; stepfather, Jim Sheehan of New York; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank George; father, Eyner Poulsen; mother, Ann Sheehan; and brother, Mike Sheehan.
She has gone to her eternal home with God.
