Kari Krystal Austermuhl, age 35, passed away Oct. 1, 2020, at her home in Anchorage, Alaska. She was born in Anchorage to Ingrid Bacon and Jon Austermuhl. She attended Sandlake and then Kincaid Elementary the first year it opened; Mears Middle School and graduated from Dimond High School, class of 2004. She then went on to attend the ACE Academy school and graduated from there, class of 2007.

Kari (pron. KAHR-ee) saw the world thru rose colored lenses and quite unique in the ability to see only the good in every person she met, even the few who were less than kind. Her empathy of others was first and foremost, kindness was her rule. Kari endured medical hardships with grit and a laugh. She knew how to embrace challenges, making her extremely resilient to whatever life threw her way. Her imagination brought lively conversations and her curiosity ranged wide along varied topics as she was an avid reader. Kari was an amazing gift-giver! She especially loved shopping to find that perfect gift for loved ones, walking for endless miles, alas she could not drive. Kari would concoct things, such as delicious foods and flavors, along with creative outfits that expressed her feelings. She loved all different kinds of music, which she would sing and dance to her hearts content, while she took those long walks. Family was extremely important to her and she was always the life of family gatherings.
