Linda Orell Lappi

Anchorage, Alaska, resident Linda Orell Lappi passed away at home on April 20, 2020, after a courageous battle with cancer. Linda was born in Oxnard, Calif., in 1943 to Milton and Thelma Kelly. She was raised in McAllen, Texas. After earning a bachelor's degree in education from Pan-American University, she moved to Alaska in 1965. Linda taught at Ursa Major on Fort Richardson, where she met Lieutenant Robert Orell. Bob and Linda married in 1967, and spent the next 28 years in Anchorage, where they built their log home and raised their five children. Linda enjoyed 20 years of her career at O'Malley Elementary.

Linda was preceded in death by Bob, though was fortunate to meet David Lappi, whom she married in 1999. They spent the next 12 years adventuring, enjoying family and her retirement years with their beloved husky Foxy, prior to Dave's passing.

Linda was known for her kindness, humility and sense of humor. She was cherished by friends and family. She enjoyed travel, gardening, reading and good meals. She had an unforgettable smile for all who had the pleasure of meeting her.

Survivors include sisters, Kay Kelly Rozar and Mary Ann Kelly; brother, Paul Kelly; children, Caroline Bradshaw, Elizabeth Livingston, Susan Lauseng, Jennifer Orell and Walter Orell; stepsons, Cory Lappi and Troy Lappi; and nine adored grandchildren.

Linda will be buried at Fort Richardson National Cemetery. A memorial mass and celebration of her life will be scheduled at a later date through St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Social Services of Alaska.
