Loren R. Dodds, age 91, passed away on Dec. 12, 2023.

He was born on May 11, 1932, in Spearfish, S.D., the son of Edna and Chester Dodds. He was predeceased in death by his wife Betty.

He graduated from Spearfish High School in 1950, and married Betty Dilley in 1953. In 1966, Betty received a teaching position with the Anchorage School District.

Loren began his Alaska career as a pipe welder at the Drift River Oil Terminal. He eventually started Dodds Construction, building residential homes and construction for government contracts until he retired.

Loren is survived by his children, Rhonda with son-in-law George, Karla and Kent; grandchildren, Derek, Dylan, Brady, Lindsey and Justin; and great-grandchildren, Adelinde, Evelin, Archer, Indy, Kylie, Audrey and Brooke.

A memorial service will begin at 1 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at Jewel Lake Parish, 3788 Strawberry Road in Anchorage, Alaska. The family would appreciate the remembrance of fond memories to be shared at the service or in writing.
