Mary "Jane" Kerns, 94, of Anchorage, Alaska, passed away on Feb. 14, 2020. At the time of her death she was residing in Marlow Manor Assisted Living Facility in Anchorage. Jane was born on May 29, 1925, in Spokane, Wash. She grew up in Rose Lake, Idaho, and graduated from Rose Lake High School in May 1943. While attending high school Jane played women's basketball and was often the high point player in the game. After graduation, Jane enrolled in Lewis-Clark State College. Due to the shortage of teachers during World War II, Jane left college early to help fill in the teaching gap. She continued to teach while residing in Washington and Idaho. In 1947, she married Richard Kerns, her high school sweetheart and beloved husband of 69 years. In July 1962, with her family of four - son, Dick 1951-2000, and son, Don born in 1958 - traveled the AIcan Highway where Richard practiced law in Anchorage until retirement. Jane was a homemaker and mother to their two sons. Jane was a motivational factor in the family property rental business. She was involved in the remodeling, upkeep and bookkeeping of the business. Jane and Richard spent their retirement years between their home in Anchorage, their cabin on the Kenai River and their condominium in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. They enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Jane was always ready for visitors with a cup of coffee and a piece of homemade cake.

Jane's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Marlow Manor for their quality care of Jane over the past few years.

Jane is survived by her son, Don; daughter-in-law, Kim; and three grandchildren by their son Dick. There will be no service; interment will be in Coeur d'Alene.
