Mary Lousie (Lindberg) Baugher, 82 years of age, was born into eternity to be with her Lord and Savior on July 30, 2020. She was born on Oct. 7, 1937, to Arthur and Lucille (Mingo) Lindberg in Minneapolis, Minn., the sixth of seven children. She met the dashing young Jerry Baugher in Canoga Park, Calif., when she was 15 and eloped three months later, driving to Amarillo, Texas, where they married on March 16, 1953. The adventure began, culminating in 67 years of marriage, five daughters, three sons, 36 grandchildren and, at this time, 68 great-grandchildren, whom she knew, loved and for whom she prayed.
Faith, family and friends were her center and her home was always open. As the children began their own lives, she and Jerry went to work at Twin Wells Indian School in Holbrook, Ariz., for 2 years, cooking and loving on those children. Beginning in 1980, many summers would find them in Strawberry Lake Christian Camp in northern Minnesota serving in hospitality, cooking and yard work. She earned her CNA certificate and ministered at a nursing home in Minneota, Minn., where they lived for 20 years. This CNA experience was helpful in her care for Jerry after he lost his legs due to circulation problems.
They moved to Alaska in 2016, after many visits to see her daughter, making their residence in the Denali View Apartments at the Chugiak Eagle River Senior Center. She loved perennial flower gardening, bird watching, collecting turtles, spelunking, traveling, antique and thrift store shopping, reading about Alaska, studying the Bible, talking to people and sharing her love of the Lord. She spent her life faithfully serving, generously loving, bringing wisdom and beauty everywhere she went - an example of how we should live. Praying for so many, her strong and unwavering faith is part of the legacy she leaves us.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Jerry; her children, Rita (Dan) Kosterman of Eagle River, Stephen (Peg) Baugher of Marshall, Minn., Kevin (Brenda) Baugher of Columbus, Neb., Terrance (Ellen) Baugher of Dawson, Minn., Barbara (Steven) Stirn of Worthington, Minn., Kelli (Steven) Nothem of Gilcrest, Colo., Janice (Robert) Case of Guthrie, Okla., and Marie (Daniel) Settles of Claremore, Okla.; her sister, Geraldine Miskowiec of Camarillo, Calif.; brothers, Ted (Marie Claire Remington) Lindberg of Minnetonka, Minn., and Butch (Bea) Lindberg of Buffalo, Minn.; and brother-in-law, Fred Baugher.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Lucille Lindberg; Leroy "Bud" Lindberg; Leslie "Red" Lindberg; and sister, Margaret McKenzie.
