Minos Joseph Hebert passed away on April 13, 2020, in Adamsville, Tenn., at age 93. Minos was born on Jan. 18, 1927, in Delcambre, La., to Joseph Hebert and Aline Saunier, one of five children. Drafted into the Army in 1945, Minos served in the Philippines in World War II. He returned to Louisiana and attended college on the G.I. Bill, studying carpentry and woodworking — a lifelong passion.
In 1950, he married Rita Menard, whom he met on a blind date. The couple celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary before Rita passed away in January 2019.
Minos made his career in the oil industry, working across the country. In 1968, he and Rita moved their three children, Barbara, Daniel and David, to Anchorage, Alaska, and they later settled in Wasilla. As a toolpusher for Loffland Brothers on the North Slope, Minos worked on the rig that drilled the discovery well for the Prudhoe Bay oilfield in 1968. He retired in 1986 from Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO). Minos and Rita moved to Tennessee in 2016.
Industrious, strong and generous of spirit, Minos will be remembered as a loving and loyal father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his sister, Janet LeBlanc of Louisiana; his three children and their spouses, Barbara Underwood and husband Lee, Daniel Hebert and wife Sherran, and David Hebert and wife Wendy; grandchildren, Chris Hebert and husband Mieck Delaney, David Mark Hebert and wife Amanda, Michelle Faulk and husband TJ, James Underwood and wife Sara, and Joel Hebert; great-grandchildren, River and Story Delaney, Henry Hebert, Caleb and Olivia Underwood; Kelli Chellgran and many "adopted" grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Minos was preceded in death by his wife, Rita; siblings, Sabble Perrin and husband Theodore, Warren Hebert and wife Mary Lou, Murphy Hebert; brother-in-law, Neil LeBlanc; and grandson, Joseph Hebert.
