Patricia A. Vollendorf (Rainone), 80, of Anchorage, Alaska, passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 24, 2020, at Providence Hospital in Anchorage.
Born on April 13, 1939, in Providence, R.I., she was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Lizetta (DeAngelis) Rainone. She moved to Alaska in 1963, where she met her husband, Bill.
Patricia's life revolved around her family, friends and work. Saint Pat was her Minnesota given name from Bill's mother and aunts. Her children always came first. She is finally out of pain and telling jokes. She'll be checking to see that Billy's paperwork is in order and happy for Mary and waiting for us to play Crib and Smear.
She is survived by her husband, William Vollendorf; daughter, Mary Vollendorf; son and daughter-in-law, William M Vollendorf and Marie Graham; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, David and Diane Grigal of Minneapolis, Minn. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, Donald Iezzi, James Iezzi and Christian Iezzi of Providence, and Matthew Grigal of St. Paul, Minn.; Melissa Zonfrilli, Lisa Denault, Teri Audet and Patricia Burke of Providence, and Susan Grigal of St. Paul. She is preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Donald Iezzi.
The good-looking, brown eyed Italian Catholic who teaches second grade was a gift we all loved and will never be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, Patricia requests donations be made to the Patricia Vollendorf Lumen Christi Scholarship Fund.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 6, 2020, at 1 p.m., at St. Benedicts Catholic Church. A reception will be held downstairs immediately following the service.
