Paul Frank Lira

Jun 9, 1953 -

Sep 26, 2020

Paul Lira passed away on Sept. 26, 2020, lying next to his wife, in the house he built, surrounded by the love of his family. To say that Paul was a loving man is an understatement. He filled his home with laughter and love because to him, the greatest lesson is to love and to be loved. In nearly 40 years of marriage, he and his wife, Kristi, never spent a night apart. He was proud of each of his children, Ivory, Sadie, and Quinn, for growing up to be strong, independent people. Paul was born in Pueblo, Colo. and graduated from high school in Bailey, Colo. in 1972. He moved to Valley City, N. D. and joined the highway crew. Alaska beckoned and Paul followed the call, first to Fairbanks and then to Kodiak where he met Kristi. They settled in Anchorage in 1983 where they were embraced by a large extended family and friends that became family. Paul went into business for himself. His integrity and his ingenuity at problem-solving made him highly sought after as a fix-it man. His many satisfied customers often became friends. Music was Paul's primary avocation. He would have loved to have been a rock star, but settled for playing at open mics around town and with the Paul and Lee Band with Free Will. He wrote his own songs on guitar which he could play both right- and left-handed. Hopefully you heard him play, heard his passion and his poetry. Paul leaves behind many whom he loved deeply: his wife, Kristi; his children, Ivory, Sadie (Nick Fix), and Quinn Lira; five siblings; his in-laws; the extended Ryan family in Anchorage; and MANY nieces and nephews. Because of COVID-19, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hungryformusic.org.
