Philip Fowler

Anchorage, Alaska, resident Philip Edward Fowler, 101, passed away on Aug. 20, 2020, at his home. Services will be held at a later date.

Philip, a naturalized citizen, was born on Jan. 11, 1919, in England, to Joseph and Sarah Jane (Wilby) Fowler. He was a 1938 graduate of the Black Diamond High School in Black Diamond, Wash. Philip married Margaret Macy McKibben on March 26, 1942. He honorably served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following his discharge, he graduated from the University of Washington with his degree in business administration in 1950. Philip worked in the insurance industry, moving to Anchorage in 1970. He retired from Ribelin Lowell & Co. in Anchorage.

He enjoyed fishing, jewelry making, gourmet cooking and time with his family.

Mr. Fowler is survived by his daughters, Jena Fowler and Terrie L. (Fowler) MacDonald, both of Anchorage; grandsons, Russell MacDonald and his wife Cassandra Chavez of Mesa, Ariz., and Keith MacDonald of Anchorage; three great-grandsons; and one stepgreat-grandson.

Philip was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Margaret Fowler; his parents, Joseph and Sarah Jane Fowler; and brother, Ronald Fowler.
