Prudencia Fesalbon Firmalan, 90, died peacefully surrounded by family members at Providence Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska, on March 27, 2020. Visitation will be on June 18, 2020, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E Street, Anchorage, AK 99501. Funeral service will follow at Funeraria Samson in Bacoor City, Cavite, Philippines, and she will be laid to rest in Manila Memorial Park Dasmarinas, Cavite, Philippines, at a later date.
Prudencia Firmalan was born on April 28, 1929, in the Philippines. She was a homemaker, a very hardworking, loving, compassionate and a very religious person. Her hobbies included embroidery and crochet. She loved to prepare her favorite delicacy, a sticky rice - sumang malagkit - which everybody loves to eat. She moved to Anchorage in 1994. She enjoyed camping and traveling with her family and attending Filipino community gatherings. She will be remembered by her loving personality, being a sweet and humble person and always wearing a cheerful smile. Her voice, presence and willingness to help her loved ones and other people will certainly be missed. She may be gone for now, but will always remain in our memories.
She is survived by her children and in-laws, Annie and Efren Caparas, Arthur and Edna Firmalan, Allyn and Roel Gonzales, Sylvia and Cris Jr. Barquilla and Buddy Firmalan; grandchildren, Lloyd and Joan Firmalan, Lizeth and Glen Abarondo, Rosemarie Firmalan, Mico Firmalan, Erika Gonzales, Criselle Barquilla, Kristine Barquilla and Cris III Barquilla; and great-grandchildren, John Lloyd Firmalan, Bea Firmalan, Nathan Abarondo and Tristan Abarondo.
Prudencia was preceded in death by her husband, Monico Firmalan; and parents, Gaudencio and Donata Fesalbon.
She will greatly be missed by all.
