Longtime Alaskan Richard Everett Crow Jr. died on Sept. 14, 2020, peacefully at home. Rick was born in Eugene, Ore., and came to Alaska in the early 1950s. He graduated from East High School and was immediately drafted by the Army. Rick returned home to Anchorage a highly decorated Vietnam veteran and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross among other honors. He married Kathleen Laird and they celebrated 52 years of marriage.
Rick worked as a journeyman electrician in Anchorage, Alaska, and then went to work on the North Slope for Arco Alaska, where he also became a state-certified fireman while volunteering for the Prudhoe Bay Fire Department. Upon retiring in 2000, he and his wife started touring the Lower 48 in their motorhome, visiting friends and family along the way. Summers were spent enjoying the company of the Corvette Association members and touring around Alaska in his cars with his family and friends.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Charlene; and is survived by his wife, Kathi; and their daughters, Michelle Crow and her son, Evan; Karie Crow; Tami Crow and Al Hingst; Christine and husband Ricky Lusk and their children, Emma and Logan. He is also survived by his brother, Michael Crow and his wife Dawn; sister, Susan and husband Bill Yarbrough; and many other family members, including aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and their children.
