Richard Patsey, 80, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2020, at 12:02 p.m, at his home in the presence of loved ones. Richard was born in Nulato, Alaska, to Tony Patsey and Mary Lidwine and grew up in Holy Cross. He was a proud Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, and retired in 1988 as a Chief Gunners Mate based out of Norfolk, Va. He traveled and saw the world while serving for 30 years in the armed forces. Richard enjoyed 32 years of marriage to Doris Patsey. He moved back to Alaska in 2006, and enjoyed the outdoors as an avid hunter and fisherman. Richard was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts and old Western movies. Mr. Patsey met his wife, Lucy, while fiddle dancing at Moose Lodge and they were married in 2012.
Richard was preceded in death by his late wife, Doris Patsey; brother, Leroy Patsey; sister, Anna Farmer; and Uncle Edward and spouse Ida. He is survived by his wife, Lucy Patsey; sisters, Edith and Angela; and stepchildren, Ronnie (daughter Heather), Ivy, Mindy, Wendy, Barbara, Gregory, Timothy, Jennifer and Tracy. He is also survived by cousins, Leona, Jim, Yvonne, Herbert, Ed, Elaine, Diane, Ruth, Ken, Franklin and Ursula; and numerous other relatives.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020, at Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E Street, at 12 p.m., following a service at 1 p.m. Richard's final resting place is Fort Richardson National Cemetery; the burial is at 2:30 p.m.
