Rita L. Simon, 88, passed away peacefully in Stanwood, Wash., on Feb. 24, 2020.

Rita was born in Lincoln, Neb., on Oct. 18, 1931, to the late Calvin and Gertrude Crampton. She married Kenneth Simon in 1951, and traveled the world with him during his military career that ended in Anchorage, Alaska. During those years they raised five children, where a big part of the time she was doing it all alone while he was stationed overseas. She was a homemaker most of the time and worked as a part-time clerk and ran a daycare in the late 1970s. She loved being a "snowbird" heading down to Las Vegas, Nev., where they had bought a home to get out of the Alaska winters.

She volunteered in the dining room at the Mary Conrad Center - now Prestige Care - for 20 years from 1989-2009.

Rita enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, watching them become young adults and a few giving her great-grandchildren.

Survivors include sons, Bob (Jill) and Steve (Marlise); twin daughters, Kathy Lewis and Karen (Bob) Carle; grandchildren, Jessica Yates, Jeffery Simon, Nick Simon, Britney Simon, Christian Simon, Dominique Simon, John Novosad, Sean Lewis, Adam Lewis, Matthew Carle, David Carle and Alex Carle; as well as 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Simon; her son, Richard Simon; and parents, Calvin and Gertrude Crampton.

She has requested there be no service.
