Robert Alan Menke

Wasilla, Alaska, resident Robert Alan Menke, 61, died on April 17, 2020, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center of sepsis. He was born on April 13, 1959, in Point Pleasant, N.J., the son of Theodore H and Joan Marie Menke.

At a young age he liked to tinker with tools, fixing anything that was mechanical, which led to his career as a heavy duty mechanic.

In 2007, he moved to Anchorage, Alaska, and started working at Prudhoe Bay Oil Field on Alaska's North Slope as a heavy duty mechanic.

In 2013, he met his wife Traci, and they married at the cemetery at her son's grave, with her father Robert Anselm officiating the wedding on Friday, June 13, 2014.

Preceding him in death were his parents: father, Theodore H. Menke; mom, Joan Marie Menke; and Traci's son, Kevin Michael Barner. Surviving are his wife, Traci Menke of Wasilla; his children from a previous marriage: son, Michael Menke of Carson City, Nev.; daughter, Shelia Marie (Paul) Guzzetta of Carson City; daughter, Elizabeth (Josh Bonano) Menke of Los Angeles, Calif.; sister, Deberah (Michael) Hogan of Palmdale, Calif.; father-in-law, Robert Anselm and mother-in-law, Donna Anselm of Willow, Alaska; brother-in-law, Mark (April) Anselm of Willow; grandchildren, Annakin Joseph, Lillian Marie and Luca Peyton Guzzetta of Carson City; his nephew, Kameron Phillips of Menifee, Calif.; niece, Kristen Phillips of Menifee; nephew, Kevin Hogan of Lancaster, Calif.; niece, Liberty Ann Anselm and nephew, Robert Alan Anselm of Willow; brother Rory Haddeland from another mother of Wasilla; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. At Rob's request there will be no services.

Rob will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His soul set forth on a journey, he feels no pain nor aches, his spirit all aglow, our hearts are empty without you, you will travel to places never before visited, your life will hold a large amount of love and numerous memories, the heart of heavens will hold your spirit.
