Rosa Lee Osborne

Rosa was born to Charles and Rosie Baker on May 20, 1927, in Fort Scott, Kan. The family moved west to Redding, Calif., where Rosa met the love of her life, Henry Osborne; they married on Sept. 14, 1946. They had three children: two daughters and one son. While living in Redding Rosa worked for WT Grant Company as an accountant, and the two managed a roller skating rink. Rosa and Henry skated competitively and won several dance competitions.

In 1971, Henry and Rosa and their two youngest children moved north to Alaska, settling in Glennallen. In 1972, they opened Glennallen's first clothing store, Osborne's Clothing & Gift Shop. Rosa operated the clothing and gift store while Henry worked in the trucking industry and the trans-Alaska pipeline. They later sold the clothing store and moved to Hilo, Hawaii, they opened Hilo's first Hallmark store. Rosa operated Osborne's Hallmark & Gift Store while Henry drove trucks loaded with Koa logs down the narrow mountain roads neat Kau'u.

Later moving back to their beloved Alaska, returning to the Copper River basin, Henry built Rosa a large ceramic shop attached to their home where they operated Rosa's Doll Studio and River View Ceramics. Rosa held many certifications for porcelain and ceramic painting techniques. Rosa enjoyed sharing her skills and taught several classes.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Iris and Robin Loehr; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and David Stancliff; three grandchildren, KC Loehr, Levi McIntosh and Lacey Gover; two great-grandchildren, Channing and Myles Gover; sister and brother-in-law, Violet and Jerry Tittle; brother, Charles Baker; and several nieces and nephews all whom she loved dearly.

Rosa was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Rosie Baker; her husband of 67 years, Henry Osborne; her son, Emory Osborne; grandson, Zebulon Osborne; and sister, Virginia Tucker.
