Aug 24, 2020
On Monday, Aug. 24, 2020, Saundra Lee Buzby, loving wife and greatly loved mother of four, grandmother and great-grandmother to many, passed away peacefully at her home, at the age of 76.
Sandy was born on Nov. 26, 1943, in Warren, Ohio, to Jacqueline Burns Amber and John Amber. She moved to Houston, Texas, with her mother and little brother Bryan. From there Sandy moved to Palmer, Alaska, in 1958, to live with her aunt Geraldine Fuller, where she met her utterly devoted husband, Richard Buzby. Together they raised four very loved children: Yvonne, Theresa, Weylin and Wesley. She will be dearly missed by her eight grandchildren, Melissa (Chase), Ryan, Amber, Brody, Ashlin, Savannah, Kenny and Emilee; and her two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Lily. She is survived by her brother, Bryan (Mary). Sandy had a passion for the overlooked and lonely, seen in her love for fostering children for 12 years and in 23 years of feeding and caring for the children in the Anchorage School District. Her many creative skills were seen in her crochet, knitting, stained glass, gardening, cooking, beading, pet rescue and anything that caught her eye. She was known for her quick wit, singing "I love you a bushel and a peck," her kind and compassionate spirit, her love for her pets, a trusted confidant to a world of friends and her extensive Pepsi collection. There are no words to describe the loss of Sandy and all she represented, but we take comfort in the love she shared and the love she left behind.
A memorial service will be held at 230 E. Schrock Road in Wasilla, Alaska, on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2020, at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Alzheimer's Resource of Alaska, alzalaska.org; 907-561-3313.
