Soldotna, Alaska, resident Mr. Scott Holger Petersen, 64, died on Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at his home in Soldotna.
Private services will be held later next week. He will be scattered in the Kenai River at some point.
Scott was born on May 19, 1956, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated high school and furthered his education by receiving an associate degree in college. He moved to Alaska in 1984, living in Anchorage up until 2018 when he retired and moved to the Kenai Peninsula, living in Soldotna. Scott was a Mason, Driller, Blaster and was an Alaska Railroad Locomotive Engineer. In 2018, he retired from the Alaska Railroad.
Scott loved fishing, traveling, woodworking, experimental cooking and gardening.
The family wrote: "A unique person who loved learning about the world and moved from one project to the next. He enjoyed teaching and sharing his life experiences with his grandchildren. He was never concerned about what others thought of him. He was willing to debate any subject with others. Always trying to perfect any new skill and a man of many talents."
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald R. and Shirley Petersen; and brother, David Petersen.
He is survived by his wife, Gayle Petersen of Soldotna; son, Jake (Victoria) Petersen of Eagle River, Alaska; granddaughters, Liana Petersen of Eagle River, Alice Johnson of Eagle River and Pepper Petersen of Eagle River; brother, Brent (Patty) Petersen of Tetonia, Idaho, and Chris Petersen of Tetonia; and sister, Sheri Petersen of Texas.
