Sheldene "Shelly" Kamisese

Feb 21, 1944 -

Feb 17, 2025

Heaven gained a precious soul when Sheldene "Shelly" Eleanor Tasiaeafe Kamisese, 80, passed peacefully in her home surrounded by warmth of 'ohana, on Feb, 17, 2025.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 46 years, Sitiveni Kamisese Sr.l daughters, Nalani "Jerry" Torres, Christina "Yogi dec." Foma'i and Uinita "Olo" Mauigoa; sons, James "Romina" Bentz and Jason "Jasmyne" Jokiel; 20 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews she loved as her own.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Sitiveni Kamisese Jr.

Ardent about her Polynesian culture, Sheldene hailed from the sultry sands of Laie, Hawai'i. Having embraced life in Anchorage, Alaska, over 40 years – her heart never strayed from her island roots. With fiery passion for life, Sheldene enveloped a lifestyle of good health and fitness, living long enough to see most of her grandchildren grow into adults. She fiercely loved her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Melodies of music often echoed in her home as a lover of music and dancing. Sheldene radiated joy as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served many years in the Anchorage LDS Temple. Her vibrant, compassionate, nurturing spirit and Aloha will be missed by countless souls she has impacted.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2501 Maplewood Street, Anchorage, AK 99508. Family gathering at 9 a.m., with visitation at 10 a.m., memorial service at 11 a.m. and reception at 12 p.m. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, please consider visiting or calling family and friends. Sheldene's 'ohana expresses love and appreciation for those who have enriched her life in so many ways.
