Shirley Rice Anderson, 101, died on Aug. 22, 2020, while staying at Prestige Care in Anchorage, Alaska. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 31, 2020, at Fort Richardson National Cemetery with Navy Honors being conducted.

Shirley was born on Dec. 7, 1918, in New Haven, Conn., and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She met and married her husband Clarence in the Navy in March 1945, in Pensacola, Fla. They were stationed numerous places during his long military career.

After retirement the Andersons moved to Wasilla, Alaska, in September 1986, to be near their son Paul and to enjoy Alaska. Shirley enjoyed painting, sewing, crafts and crocheting. Shirley took an interest in everyone she met and was a kind and generous soul. Shirley loved her husband and family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Shirley is preceded in death by husband, Clarence Otto Anderson; and son, Paul Curtis Anderson. She is survived by her son, David Clarence Anderson and wife Sarah "Susie" Anderson of Uniontown, Ark.; daughter-in-law, Mary Harvick Anderson of Anchorage; grandchildren, Tiffany Elizabeth Sierra and husband Jesse Sierra of Uniontown, Caroline Isobel Harvick Anderson and Lliam Ossian Anderson of Anchorage; and great-grandchildren, Clare Elizabeth Sierra and Sidney Autumn Sierra of Uniontown.
